You’ve finally carved out some well-earned time for a massage. You’re ready to relax, unwind… and then the thought hits you: “Wait—should I shave my legs first?”

Let’s stop right there. This is one of the most common questions massage therapists hear – and today, we’re clearing it up.

Myth: I need to shave before a massage.

Truth: Absolutely not.

Here’s why shaving isn’t necessary:

1. We’re focused on your muscles, not your hair.

Your massage therapist is trained to assess muscle tension, joint mobility, posture, and stress patterns. Leg hair? Totally irrelevant.

2. Shaving before your massage can actually irritate your skin.

If you shave just before your appointment, your skin might feel more sensitive, especially when oils, creams, or deeper techniques are used.

3. You won’t be judged. Ever.

Massage therapy is a safe, non-judgmental space. We’re here to support your wellbeing – and that means creating a space where you feel comfortable in your natural body.

4. You’re not alone in wondering this.

So many women (and men!) ask about this. Whether you’ve got stubble, smooth skin, or haven’t shaved in weeks – it makes no difference to your session.

A note from me: As someone who works with hundreds of clients, I can promise you: your legs don’t need to be hairless to be cared for. Just bring your wonderful self, and let the massage do its magic.

So the next time you’re booked in for a massage…Skip the razor. Embrace the relaxation. Your body is perfect as it is.
